Exciting new program for 2007
Kick start 2007 with the long awaited lunch!
With the spirit of Chinese New Year in the air, we thought kicking off the year by enjoying a Chinese lunch together after church wouldn't be such a bad idea. But really, the thought behind choosing this restaurant is its connection to Ben and Jess. If you really want to know the whole story, you'll just have to join us.
So, c'mon, bring your friends to Chef's Cuisine Chinese Restaurant at Worongary Shopping Village on Sunday, Feb 25th. Not many people can say no to Chinese food. Besides, getting together is always a good thing. Last time we were there we had lots of fun.
As for the rest of the year? Without spoiling the surprise, let's just say there's a festival coming up that's way better than Cannes or Sundance, a battle of the microphones that might just uncover the songbird in you, and best of all, talks on various topics that will rock your world!
So watch this space for more updates and posts of what's going on this year with Ignite.

Thoughts on Christian Unity
I was doing my devotion one morning this week in the refreshing smell after the rain. As I watched the water in the pool rippled from raindrops some thoughts came to me.
I noticed that the bigger the raindrop, the bigger the ripple gets and the further it reaches. Occasionally, multiple raindrops fell at the same time and I noticed the overlapping ripples with less defined lines. So it is with the church, only when christians are united like a big raindrop will it create ripples that has the most impact and reaches the farthest in our society. Groups within the church doing their own things are like multiple raindrops falling. Their efforts are duplicated and impact is limited.
I pray that our church will be one that creates the biggest and furthest reaching ripples because of our togetherness in Christ.

Looking for something wholesome to read?
I spend a lot of time reading and researching stuff on the web. So I thought I should really put all those accumulating bookmarks into something for the greater good :-)
So, I have listed some articles here that, hopefully, are helpful. Don't forget to always...test everything. Hold on to the good. (1 Thess 5:21)
:: Self-image
The Makeup Mask
Many of us don't go out without at least a little bit of makeup on. Why is there such huge pressure to be beautiful in our culture? What is the biblical way to think about outward appearance?" (read more)
The Eye of the Beholder
I remember what it was like to look in the mirror and dislike what I saw. I remember spending minute upon minute criticizing my features, practicing make-up application, and sighing. (read more)
:: Entertainment/Pop-culture
Amusing ourselves to death
Entertainment and all that it implies and conveys is not simply an option that we have the privilege to explore occasionally; it has become for many a way of living. For many others, it has become simply an ailment undiagnosed. The problem with living in a culture is that we are blinded to its nature, narratives, and influence on our lives. (read more)
:: Truth
Rethinking Buying Milk
Imagine that you are mistaken about everything you hold dear. Suppose you wake up one morning and clearly realize that your long-held, day-to-day views of nature, social values, and self are obviously mistaken. (read more)

Great Quotes
"We do not segment our lives, giving some time to God, some to our business or schooling, while keeping parts to ourselves. The idea is to live all of our lives in the presence of God, under the authority of God, and for the honor and glory of God. That is what the Christian life is all about."
- R. C. Sproul
