Film, TV & Christians
That was the theme for last night's movies night. Thanks for all those who come and those helped out. It was a great night and a big eye opener for many.
Simon showed us couple clips on subliminal advertising and mind control to show how easily the media can manipulate us. You can see the clips here. The second one is really funny.
He gave us a quick andinsightful run through of what shaped our TV, films and music industries today. He then went on to show us a documentary "merchant of cool" about teens/young adults and pop culture and the giant machine that's creating and propelling it.
At the end of the night, some people indicated that they want to hear more. So, tell us what you think of the night. If there's enough interest, we may get Simon back for another round.

the night was great and very interesting...
i felt violated in a way...like i'm being manipulated by all these people without be aware of it...
i knew the advertising/marketing side because i studied it at uni but his confirmation of the gay presence at the top of hollywood didn't surprise me...and the fact that the progressive ideology isn't coming out and 'christian-bashing' but paints christianity in such a bad light by putting such a positive spin on their own ideas and ways...
it's incredible that all this is going on all the time and we are oblivious to it most of the time...
i think the most frightening fact was Simon's thoughts on paedophilia being the next 'trend'...paedophilies were those creepy old men who downloaded internet porn and now people are going to actually pay money to view it...i mean if someone said 15 years ago that a movie about gay american cowboys would be an oscar winning, worldwide box office smash they would have been shut down...but people flocked to the cinemas to see it...
very very scary...
immediately after the night i was like, i'm never watching tv or movies or listening to music ever again! but of course that isn't going to happen!! the night made me more aware to the forces in this world and how satan will infect people's lives anyway and everyway he can...and that we need to guard ourselves against him...
